Cantor Simon…"The Guys With The Chopper"™
David Cantor and Craig Simon not only represent injured motorcyclists because they are lawyers, they also represent them because they are fellow riders. Craig Simon's first motorcycle, a Yamaha Virago 650, was his mode of transportation while in college in the 70's. Later on he went from a BMW K75S, to a Harley Davidson Sportster, to a BMW R1200C, and finally moved on to the "Big Twin" category. He recently owned a 1999 Harley Electra Glide which he replaced with the 2003 Anniversary Road King. In addition, Craig owns a Bourget Low Blow Chopper. He has also passed on the riding tradition to his son, Josh, who currently rides a Suzuki 650 Bandit.
David Cantor started riding while he was in grade school in the early 70's. His first motorcycle was a Honda 50 CR and he then progressed to a Honda XR75, a Yamaha YZ80, and finally was big enough to ride on a Yamaha 125 while he was in High School. While in college, David graduated to a Honda Ninja 650 (your classic "Top Gun" crotch-rocket). Following his own accident in college, he quit riding for over a decade. He subsequently began riding again in 1999 when Indian came out with their "Chief" when the company restarted after a 50 year absence. He can also be seen riding around town on his 2002 custom Indian Chief Chopper which has been named "Beyond Aggressive".
"Beyond Aggressive!!!"
The Cantor Simon Chopper
The Cantor Simon Chopper was originally a project bike developed by David Cantor. David had seen many new custom Choppers on the street, but he noticed that none of them had a thick front fork with a fully skirted fender. In striving to create the first Indian Chief Chopper, he decided to start by using a Paul Yaffe 250 soft tail Chopper frame. He subsequently contacted the boys at Indian Motorcycle of Mesa to fabricate a massive skirted rear fender which measures 18 inches across (in order to cover the 250 rear tire, the swing arm, the pulley and belt drive). He next secured a custom eight and one half (8 ½) gallon tank from Fat Katz in California. This tank measures 21 inches across in order to balance out the look of the bike. The motor used is a TP 107 cubic inch with a dual Mikuni carb. Next, he contacted Hallcraft and had them deliver two (2) 100 spoke custom wheels which were topped off with Avon tires.
Originally, the Chopper had a four (4) inch open primary belt drive by Hi-Tech, however, this "Dominator" belt drive caused some problems with the six (6) speed Baker transmission. He later had a Primo standard primary installed. Coupled with the Pro One clutch and Performance Machine controls, plus custom handlebars, he then had the bike ready for paint. The paint is a custom marbleized black finish with silver metalic flames which was done by Denny Bloom of Kreative Koloring. The finishing touch was a set of Wicked Brothers "Warlock" pipes. In order to finalize the assembly of the bike, Kenny Ronan of Scratchbuilt originally had only two (2) weeks to get the bike together in time for the 2002 Arizona Bike Week. Subsequently, all of the bugs were worked out by Evolution Custom Motorcycles in Tszempe. The bike has been featured on Speed Vision's Corbin Ride-On television show as well as various magazines throughout the nation. Beyond Aggressive truly symbolizes the Cantor Simon spirit with regards to not only their personal lives, but also their law practice. If you see us on the road, or at one of the various establishments around the State of Arizona, please feel free to chat with us and check out the Chopper. Live Free, Ride Free!
Besides riding and representing motorcycle riders, Cantor Simon are members of various riding organizations throughout Arizona and the country. Craig is a member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) East Valley Chapter, ABATE, the AMA, the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association, and the Black Mountain Motorcycle Club. David belongs to the AMA, along with the "Tribe" (the Indian Riders Group). Cantor Simon has represented the owner of Evolution Custom Motorcycles in Tempe, when he was involved in his motorcycle accident. His custom chopper featured on the American Ironworks, January 2003 cover, was the victim of that particular crash. Cantor Simon have also represented Mark Bradshaw, owner of the Hideaway Bar and Grill, along with four other Cave Creek Merchants when they took on the City of Cave Creek in order to make sure that the 2002 Cave Creek Main Street Rally took place during Arizona Bike Week. In addition, they challenged the City of Carefree when they attempted to pass their new "Loud Pipe" ordinance at a decibel level which was lower than manufacturer specs. Besides representing clients, they have also sponsored such rides as the "Thunder in the Desert Breast Cancer Ride" and the "Run with the Chiefs," which benefited the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Youth Services Group. Cantor Simon prides itself on representing all motorcyclists. This includes the sport bikers, the Big Twin custom and touring riders, along with the dirt and off-road bikers and quad runners. Two (2), three (3), and four (4) wheelers are always welcome at Cantor Simon.
